My Last Love Letter
By Donna M Babadilla
Few more days to go and I know that even if we do not wish it to happen, we will depart from each other. I cannot imagine myself living without you, but I need to get used to it. Once we part our ways, it is not that easy to come back. I know that you also want me to stay, but I must go on for me to grow and be ready to face the real world. Always remember that you will not only be in my mind but also in my heart. You will always be a part of me, of my entire being. Now, I just want to reminisce our happy memories and prepare myself for our last goodbye.
First and foremost, goodbye to your caring mother who has been a second mother to me. Farewell Mrs De Guzman. Farewell Principal’s Office.
In the near future, I will have limitations. I cannot do some things like I used to do. Farewell Miss Gonzalez. Farewell Guidance Office.
Do you remember the things that you gave me? Bags, pencils, ball pens, pad papers, among others? They will serve as memories of your existence. It was so thoughtful of you. I do not know how I can repay you. Farewell Mr Culas. Farewell Supply Office.
I will miss those times when you make me eat pizzas, kikiam, hotdogs, asado rolls, and hamburgers. Also those lugaw, siopao, menudo, and sinigang. Seeing those food makes me remember you. Farewell Mrs Abad. Farewell canteen.
I have a sin to confess. I snatched a page of your book. I know it is wrong and so before I leave, will you forgive me first? Farewell Mrs Zafra. Farewell Mrs Condat. Farewell library.
I will treasure the dates we had, watching movies together. Farewell carpet. Farewell audio visual room.
Thank you for the flowers that you gave me. I am so sorry that I ruined some of them by playing volleyball. Farewell pond. Farewell garden.
Remember the exciting nights that we shared? Farewell dormers. Farewell dormitory.
Thank you for fixing my things. You have been too kind to me, yet you do not ask something in return. Farewell Mang JR. Farewell utility personnel.
I am so sorry for I am always late on our dates. Farewell guards. Farewell gate.
I will miss the things that you taught me, the things that constructed my being as a better person. I really treasure the knowledge that you imparted onto me. I will always cherish them until my last breath. Farewell teachers. Farewell advisers.
Is this really goodbye? No, it is just farewell. We will see each other again. As I leave the memories behind, I feel so sorry for I have to leave you for a moment though it is hurting me so much inside. I will be having another one sooner or later, but I would visit you from time to time.
Will I be able to eat and sleep? Will I be able to stand and walk? Will I be able to talk and breathe? I hope so. I love you, but I have to say goodbye, err, farewell, Makati Science High School.
